Did you get a little heartburn when you started planning your social media in my New Year Planning Workbook? Social media is a powerful marketing tool to connect you to sales, yet it’s also one that can overwhelm (and stress out) even the most successful business owner. So you’re not alone! 🙂

Let me first give you the most important tip you’ll walk away with today – you don’t have to do it all. Seriously. There are several social media platforms out there and I always encourage my clients to pick one platform and do it really well. Pick the platform where your customers are responding the most and learn how to utilize it.

If you’re like most small business owners, you wear the hats of owner, bookkeeper, janitor and so much more. When it comes to marketing on social media, don’t add any more hats than you absolutely need to do.

So as you plan your social media marketing efforts this year, assess your social media platforms and pick one and focus your efforts there. In my workbook, I even challenge you to enlist on the help of your employees. While I know you may not want to give them all power and authority on your social media page, you can pull on them to serve as an assistant when it comes to post ideas and promotion. Since they’re in the front lines, they may have some powerful feedback from customers that’ll give you an edge.

Let me know how it goes!
