In the digital age that we’re in, sometimes business owners may not find a need to print materials beyond a business card. In some cases, I would agree. Printing flyers and brochures are costly and there’s a good chance you won’t necessarily be able to determine a solid ROI. Not to mention, we’ve already talked about the value of a good quality website.
Despite the digital age, however, I still believe there are opportunities where print does make sense. For example, I worked with a client who owns a landscaping company. They have done some truly stunning projects and we worked to put together a brochure to showcase these projects in addition to their great website.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m looking for a company to do work on my home, I’d like to have some visual images to look at and make sure they can provide a quality product. In essence I want to make sure I’ll get my money’s worth. What better way to display your products than with a printed marketing piece that you can give a prospective customer or include with your estimate for a project? There is something to having a hard copy of some work that you do.
Of course, as we talk about printing, let me reiterate the importance of good quality images and making sure your text has been proofed. I’ve seen many business owners put together a great flyer and have noticed a glaring typo that completely made me reconsider the company’s attention to detail. I get it – typos happen, but try your best to have 2-3 people give it one more look before you hit print.
Speaking of hitting print, you may not realize it, but the quality of your printing and even the type of paper you use can make your flyer or brochure really stand out. Most home printers can handle simple printing jobs, but when it comes to large orders and specifically brochures, leave it up to a professional printing company. These professional printers will know what type of paper will make your printed piece stand out. So next time you’re out and about and see a company’s brochure or flyer, take a look at it. I guarantee you’ll easily be able to determine if it was done to save costs or to showcase that they really care about their product or service.
Whether you decide to print or not, make sure quality is important and you put your best foot forward in everything you do. You have a great business and print pieces just compliment your company with your customers and prospects.
