Posting on social media always seems to take the back-burner to more businesses – especially when you’re a one-man (or woman) show. Generally speaking, we’re too busy managing the day-to-day operations and putting out fires that we often fall on the couch at the end of the week and think “oh shoot! I forgot to post about ____ this week.”
Consistency on posting is hard. I get it. That was me last year. But I set a goal at the beginning of the 2021 to step up my game and I’m SO glad I did!
Think about consistency on social media like losing weight or getting healthy. You have to be consistent even when you don’t see the needle moving in real-time. That doesn’t mean it’s not working. 😊
Here’s a few things I did this year to help me be more consistent in my own posting:
- Invested in a photo shoot. Whether you sell physical products or services, having some professional photos taken is super helpful. You no longer need to search for stock photos for those posts. Plus personalized photos help with your branding. #win
- Joined a couple Facebook groups where my potential customers hang out. These groups are where I saw people ask questions and share struggles in areas that I’m an expert in. So, when I saw several people ask the same question, I knew that I could create a post (video, graphic, Facebook live) covering that specific topic. Not to mention I was able to network and offer suggestions to those people too.
- Hired a business coach. Having a business coach was a GAME changer for me. Business coaches have an amazing amount of wisdom. Having someone who has gone before you in business will keep you from making the same mistakes they did.
- Hired a Virtual Assistant (VA). My VA, Lauren is a wiz at looking at my business from the outside-in. We get together a couple times a month and she asks me questions and we brainstorm content together. It’s SO nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of, plus she holds me accountable to be consistent. We can literally hammer out three weeks of social media posts in 30 minutes (generally a little longer because we gotta chat about life too!).
- Sat down and did the work. I generally carve out about 15-30 minutes of uninterrupted time to type out content for the week (or two). Then Lauren helps me scheduled out the posts for the week. #teamwork
Being consistent required me to be intentional with my time and invest some money into my business. Was it easy to make some of these things happen? Nope. Was it worth it? Totally!
So, what can you do to grow your business and be more consistent in posting in 2022?
And, if hiring help with social media isn’t in the budget, then download my 30 days of post ideas PLUS a week’s worth of holiday-themed post ideas too. Sometimes it’s helpful to get a little jump-start with ideas.
If you’d love to have some help with brainstorming some content ideas for the month (like I do with Lauren) then let me know. I’d be happy to help! Just message me here>>> https://www.startpointmediagroup.com/contact-us/
