Do you need to sacrifice sleep (and health) in order to grow a business?
That’s a question that I recently heard in a group of small business owners and I totally stopped in my tracks.
Sometimes the entrepreneurial journey is a long, tiring and lonely road. Not to mention the world has convinced small business owners that in order to succeed we have to hustle and run on caffeine and a prayer to keep going. BUT, that’s not what you should do, friend! That’ll lead you straight into burnout.
Here’s what I suggest:
🔹 Set a time in the evenings that you need to be done with work. Or if you’re working in the morning plan on a specific time you’ll get up to work and a time to wrap it up. For me, I’m not great after 8pm anyway.
🔹 Have a task list of to do’s and look at your schedule for the day to see what items on that list you can accomplish (not wish you could accomplish, but actually accomplish).
🔹 Turn off distractions while you work on those tasks (i.e. phone in airplane mode, close the door to your office or work space).
🔹 Give yourself grace. Slow and steady wins the race.
You may not be going as fast as you think you should, but even the smallest step forward is a step in the right direction.
