We’ve talked about the power of marketing pieces and how important it is to give the best possible first impression of your booth with a great presentation. Now let’s talk about adding another layer beyond the basic presentation – let’s talk about your booth’s Atmosphere (yes, it is possible to create atmosphere in that little booth space).
I don’t know about you, but florescent lighting is the least flattering lighting around. In fact, you won’t find a florescent bulb in my home because I think my home looks much more inviting without them. Your booth is the same way. All the indoor craft fairs showcase the highest of quality florescent lighting – therefore your products are subject to the least flattering light. Here are three ways you can ramp up the atmosphere inside your booth that brings your presentation to a whole new level.
- Lamps – if you have an ability to section off your booth on all three sides or even have a gazebo, you should have lamps and appropriate lighting. Florescent lighting will mess with all skin tones. This is specifically for those who sell makeup or jewelry.
- Mirrors – now that you’ve created the appropriate lighting, make sure you have mirrors available if your product is one that can be worn or tried on inside your booth. The lighting will affect how your customers see themselves in your product and having a mirror available for them to capture it will seal the deal.
- Music – whether you own a massage business or a DJ service – having music inside your booth replicates the environment you have created in your business. If you’ve created a great presentation and have even enclosed your booth with a tent or drapery, the music will really create the appropriate atmosphere. Think about all the hustle, bustle and noise that is going on at a craft fair. By adding the music element, you’ve already separated your customers from the overall atmosphere and purposefully created your own atmosphere for them to enjoy.

Need another reason? Check out the video below where I actually show an example of a booth that utilized lamps to showcase their product. I think you’ll agree that the lighting transformed the space.
