The Scrappy Business Owner Podcast
Podcasts are gaining quite a bit of popularity and after having my podcast for a little over a year, I’ve discovered it’s a great way to get in front of new people and you can have a little fun with it too!
In this episode, I’m pulling the curtain back on how I created my podcast, what steps I took and even what equipment and platforms I use that I know will help get you off on the right track. And if you’re not a tech-person, don’t worry! I’m breaking down the very basics and explaining everything in laymen’s terms. 🙂
Here are some helpful links and definitions I mention in this podcast:
Podcast Hosting Platform Options:
-
BuzzSprout – https://www.buzzsprout.com/pricing
-
Libsyn (what I use) – https://libsyn.com/plans-and-pricing/
RSS Feed – a link that your podcast show is given by your podcast hosting platform. Also known as a “destination,” This link is what connects your hosting platform to the podcasting platforms like Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, etc.
Choose a place to record and edit
-
Audacity – great for those with a desktop computer and is a free download program. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
-
Garageband – for Mac/ipad users – https://www.apple.com/mac/garageband/
Podcasts are audio only so you need an MP3 file. If you have video you will need to convert from MP4 (video format) to MP3 (audio format). Here are few places you can convert these files:
-
Filmora – customer uses that because they have video and exports the audio
-
Upload to Dropbox and save the file as an MP3.
-
Cloud Convert – I use this: https://cloudconvert.com/mp4-to-mp3
Get a microphone
-
Yeti Blue sky podcast mic – $100 – https://a.co/d/aQOxyb3
-
Cheap lapel mic on Amazon – $20 – https://a.co/d/anvrdHZ
